ASPO BESPOKE TEMPORAL BONE COURSE

Course Description and Suggested Format
This hands-on dissection course offers a uniquely tailored experience for pediatric otolaryngologists seeking to refine a specific temporal bone surgical step or skill (example: facial recess, canal wall down, etc.) in a focused, high yield learning environment.

The course duration is 4.5 hours. The session begins with a 30-minute presentation of high-yield surgical videos, offering practical insights and technical pearls for addressing common challenges in temporal bone surgery, such as the management of intra-operative neurovascular complications. Participants will then engage in a focused, two-hour hands-on dissection, where they can practice any surgical step or procedure of their choice on their own specimen with the mentorship of an otology expert. With a 1:1 participant-to-instructor ratio, each attendee receives dedicated mentorship from an otology expert, fostering an optimal learning environment.

Participants will then alternate for a two-hour session of peer observation. While observing, participants actively engage in learning dialogues with their peers and instructors, enhancing their understanding of surgical techniques and intra-operative decision-making. Registration to the temporal bone course provides complimentary access to the concomitant otology symposium, which can be attended during the observation period.

*Certificate of completion will be obtained after the workshop.
